EXAMINATION

ROLE SUMMARY

This position is an Intermediate Clerk vacancy under the DOJ Consent Decree. Initial hire is up to 90 days with opportunity for permanent employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs full range of administrative functions of day‑to‑day operations of the unit including specialized duties such as creating Excel reports, intricate data entry, and filing reports. Maintains a uniform workflow by determining priority on information requests and completing rush assignments. Provides clerical support for assigned unit. Reviews documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal and other requirements. Operates office machines such as computer, printer, telephone, fax, and copy machine. Demonstrates dependability and flexibility in meeting/scheduling unit needs including assignments and special projects. Complies with confidentiality and security of sensitive information. Orders, maintains, and organizes supplies and equipment for the unit. Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Option I: Six (6) months of office clerical experience in the service of the County of Los Angeles or in districts under the jurisdiction of the County. Option II: One (1) year of office clerical experience outside the service of the County of Los Angeles. Option III: A certificate or Associate of Arts degree in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college or university. Applicants must meet one of the above requirements to be considered.

LICENSE & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to use alternative transportation to perform essential functions. Physical Class II – Light: Light administrative duties with occasional light lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, stooping, and squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

During the initial work period the applicant will be evaluated on work performance. A passing assessment leads to consideration for permanent appointment.

VACANCY & SHIFT

Vacancies to be filled within Correctional Health. Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
