Job Title: Travel Ambulatory PACU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Ambulatory Care - PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 7.5 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of Ambulatory PACU experience required. License: Active Client RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience in Clinical Settings: Ambulatory/Outpatient, Phase I PACU, Pre-Op/Post-Op Care Experience in Patient Care & Monitoring: Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management, hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols, insulin administration and management, IV insertion and maintenance Experience with Surgical Procedures: Endoscopic procedures, laparoscopic procedures, urology cases Experience in Medication Administration: Emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, reversal agents Anesthesia Recovery Proficiency: Local anesthesia, Monitored Anesthesia Care, nerve blocks, spinal anesthesia, post-epidural management Pre- and Post-Operative Responsibilities: Conduct pre-op assessments and patient education Administer pre-op medications Review History & Physical (H&P) Obtain operative/procedural consents Obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG Conduct medication reconciliation Provide pre/post endoscopy and perioperative care Deliver discharge instructions Professional Competencies: Understand isolation precautions and PPE Follow malignant hyperthermia protocol Conduct pain assessment and management Apply the Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS) Description: Seeking a Travel Ambulatory PACU Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract. This is a day shift position from Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Weekends are not required. Candidates must possess experience in ambulatory settings and pre- and post-operative care. Experience with Phase I PACU is essential. Strong skills in patient monitoring and medication administration are necessary. Ability to recognize and manage dysrhythmias is required. Proficiency in conducting pre-operative assessments and obtaining consents is important. Familiarity with Epic documentation system is preferred but not mandatory. This position involves administering emergency medications and managing narcotics. Candidates should have the ability to support patients recovering from anesthesia and provide appropriate discharge instructions.
