About the Role As the Director of Human Resources, you’ll be the cornerstone of our HR operations, leading everything from recruitment and employee relations to compliance and workforce planning. Reporting to executive leadership, you’ll play a critical role in shaping our company culture, supporting employee development, and ensuring our HR practices align with our values and goals. This is a full‑time position based in Plainfield, Illinois, and offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a passionate team in a fast‑paced electronic recycling and production environment. Key Responsibilities Human Resources Leadership and Administration Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks. Serve as the primary HR resource for leadership, managers, and employees. Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and security of employee records. Identify and implement opportunities to improve HR systems and processes. Recruitment and Workforce Planning Oversee the full recruitment process, from job postings to onboarding. Collaborate with department managers to evaluate staffing needs and hiring priorities. Develop strategies to attract top talent for warehouse, production, and administrative roles. Monitor recruitment results and recommend improvements to enhance retention. Compliance and Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, Illinois, and local employment laws. Oversee employment eligibility verification, audits, and regulatory reporting. Maintain accurate personnel files, disciplinary documentation, and compliance records. Coordinate with legal counsel to address complex employment matters when needed. Employee Relations and Performance Management Address employee complaints, workplace conflicts, and policy violations. Conduct workplace investigations and recommend corrective actions. Guide managers through performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Support a respectful, inclusive, and professional work environment. Benefits Administration and Payroll Coordination Oversee employee benefits programs and leave administration. Coordinate with payroll personnel to ensure accurate employee data and documentation. Assist with benefit enrollments, eligibility tracking, and compliance reporting. Safety and Training Support workplace safety initiatives and compliance with OSHA requirements. Document workplace incidents and employee injuries as needed. Ensure employees receive required workplace policy and safety training. Leadership and Development Provide direction and support to HR staff or administrative personnel. Identify training needs, leadership opportunities, and pathways for internal promotions. Promote consistent communication between HR, leadership, and employees. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. At least 1 year of experience in HR management or a senior HR role. Strong knowledge of federal and Illinois employment laws. Experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS, and applicant tracking systems. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR). Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or production environments. Familiarity with staffing agency coordination and temporary‑to‑permanent hiring. Experience preparing for government audits or inspections. Proven ability to develop HR policies and compliance calendars.
