Mammography Technologist

Job Description Summary Performs proficiently Mammograms (Screening and Diagnostic), Bone Density Exams, Stereotactic Biopsies and Needle Localization Exams. Maintains x‑ray and other equipment in efficient operating order, assists Lead Mammographer in ensuring that Quality Assurance is carried out in an appropriate and timely manner. Job Description Performs proficiently Mammograms (Screening and Diagnostic), Bone Density Exams, Stereotactic Biopsies and Needle Localization Exams. Maintains x‑ray and other equipment in efficient operating order, assists Lead Mammographer in ensuring that Quality Assurance is carried out in an appropriate and timely manner. Education Must have a high school diploma or GED and completion of a formal two (2) year allied health approved school with completion of the mammography course and clinical requirements for Mammography registry. Credentials Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Mammography and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association. Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). ARRT CT Registration required within 1 year in position. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Breast ultrasonographer registered preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, outside in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, fine manipulation, reaching overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using both legs, lower extremities for balance and coordination, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, lifting/lowering objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lifting from 36” to overhead 25 lbs., exerting up to 50 lbs. of force. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision (corrected).
