Marketing and Business Development Coordinator

Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Coordinator to support its U.S. Marketing & Business Development team. This role partners closely with business development leadership, attorneys, and marketing professionals to drive strategic initiatives that support client development and firm growth. The position is heavily focused on business development rather than traditional marketing, making it ideal for someone with experience in practice support, competitive intelligence, pitches and proposals, rankings, and litigation-focused business development.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This individual will possess strong analytical and research skills, demonstrate initiative and curiosity, and be comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Track active litigation matters, including key milestones, attorney leadership roles, and significant case developments.
• Monitor legal and industry developments and prepare updates for internal communications, attorney biographies, and business development materials.
• Maintain and update attorney biographies, representative matters, and experience records.
• Develop, maintain, and improve business development templates, collateral, and marketing materials to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Assist with the preparation of client pitches, proposals, RFP responses, and other business development presentations.
• Conduct market, industry, competitive, and business intelligence research to identify trends, opportunities, and prospective clients.
• Utilize research databases and firm resources to gather and analyze information supporting strategic business development initiatives.
• Support the preparation and submission of legal directory, award, and ranking submissions, including tracking deadlines and drafting content.
• Maintain and track prospective client opportunities, case information, and business development activities.
• Collaborate with attorneys, marketing professionals, and external vendors to execute firmwide business development initiatives.
• Evaluate and improve internal systems, workflows, and tracking processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to ongoing marketing and business development projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of two years of business development experience, preferably within a law firm or other professional services environment.
• Experience supporting litigation practices and a strong understanding of the litigation process.
• Demonstrated business development experience, including client pitches, RFPs, competitive intelligence, business research, rankings and directory submissions, practice management support, and case tracking.
• Experience with legal research tools and business intelligence platforms.
• Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Highly organized with outstanding project management and multitasking skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with CRM, proposal, or business development technologies is a plus.
• Ability to work from the Washington, D.C. office at least two days per week.
