Staff Accountant I

At AMH, our goal is to simplify the experience of leasing a home through professional management and maintenance support, so our residents can focus on what really matters to them, wherever they are in life.The Staff Accountant I is responsible for general accounting functions related to the monthly accounting cycle, which may include various expense accounts, revenue and accounts receivable, fixed assets, liabilities and accruals or other general accounting topics.Responsibilities:Prepares monthly journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.Prepares monthly reconciliations for all assigned balance sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances.Ensures compliance by confirming processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.Maintains confidentiality ensuring that privileged and/or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure.Assists business unit management as needed with financial information requests.Providing support for annual internal and external audits as necessary, including preparing audit schedules and crosschecking, financial statements, and footnotes.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field requiredAccounting or related work experience preferredExperience with Yardi Voyager a plusFamiliarity with accounting software or sub-ledger preferredDemonstrated knowledge of accounting principles requiredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) requiredUnderstanding of ledger accounts preferredExcellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, planning and analysis skillsStrong relationship management, organizing and customer service skillsCompensationThe anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $27.42 - $34.28 Hourly.
