Material Handler / Forklift Operator – 3rd Shift

Location: Mountain Home, NC 28758 Pay: $19.00/hour Schedule: 3rd Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable Material Handler/Forklift Operator to support daily manufacturing operations in Mountain Home, NC. This position is responsible for safely moving materials throughout the facility, operating a sit-down forklift and packaging equipment, and ensuring materials are accurately staged and handled according to production requirements.

The ideal candidate has previous forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a sit-down forklift to transport, load, unload, and stage materials throughout the facility

• Operate packaging equipment, including hoists and related material-handling equipment

• Read and follow work orders, production assignments, and computerized instructions

• Verify product quantities, weights, labels, and material information for accuracy

• Perform basic mathematical calculations to maintain accurate quantities and weights

• Complete pre- and post-shift forklift inspections and report equipment issues or safety concerns

• Safely handle containers and materials weighing up to 50–60 pounds occasionally

• Monitor material movement and ensure products are placed in the correct locations

• Maintain accurate production or material-handling records using basic computer systems

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by removing excess debris and materials

• Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and manufacturing guidelines

• Communicate equipment issues, damaged materials, or other concerns to the supervisor

• Assist with additional production and material-handling duties as assigned

• Work overtime when needed to support production requirements

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of forklift operating experience

• Sit-down forklift experience preferred

• Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or material-handling experience preferred

• Basic computer skills

• Ability to read and understand work orders and computerized instructions

• Basic math skills and ability to accurately track quantities and weights

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier containers with assistance

• Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, twist, and lift throughout the shift

• Strong attention to detail and ability to check work for accuracy

• Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed

• Ability to understand basic English instructions; fluency in English is not required
