Steward Position

As Steward, this position is responsible for cleaning the entire kitchen area, cook ware, plates, glass ware, silverware and cutlery.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:

• Using the correct cleaning chemicals for designated items, according to OSHA regulations.
• Setting up and organizing work station with designated supplies and equipment; reporting shortages to supervisor. Replenishing as needed throughout the shift.
• Cleaning the total kitchen including food service carts, walk-in coolers, freezers, service elevators, and loading dock area.
• Maintaining complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Using equipment only as intended.
• Performing ware-washing tasks on soiled dishes from the restaurant, banquet, and room service outlets, through the use of the dish machine.
• Performing the tasks required for washing pots, pans, and other equipment which must be washed by hand in the pot sinks.
• Performing routine daily maintenance of kitchen.
• Cleaning and polishing silver and copper chafing dishes, trays, etc.; burnishing all silver as necessary.
• Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor as necessary to maintain a sanitary environment for food preparation.

What we need from you

• Minimum formal education of some high school and a minimum one year job-related experience preferred.
• Must be able to abide by the company appearance standards and compliance with the designated uniform.
• Dedicated to exceeding service standards and providing services and standards to the highest caliber.
• Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $28.00. This rate is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Washington, DC. This is the starting rate we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may pay more or less than the posted rate, and the rate may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
