Medical Assistant Cardiovascular

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will provide comprehensive support in a heart and vascular outpatient clinic, focusing on hypertension care. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for exams, managing office duties such as insurance verification and appointment scheduling, and assisting with telephone triage. The role requires strong clinical skills, proficiency in cardiology-related tasks, and effective communication within a busy adult outpatient setting. Certification as a Medical Assistant and BLS are required, with at least one year of experience in an adult outpatient clinic and cardiology preferred. Responsibilities:

• Obtain and record vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and 12-lead EKG/ECG.
• Prepare patients for exams by recording history, medications, and allergies.
• Perform office duties such as authorization forms, chart preparation, insurance verification, pharmacy calls, patient refill requests, appointment scheduling, and stocking supplies.
• Conduct telephone triage and assist with patient communication.
• Review laboratory test results and assist with rooming patients.
• Utilize EPIC electronic health record system for documentation and charting.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C preferred, MA-R considered; MA-P and MA-HT not accepted).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an adult outpatient clinic setting.
• Cardiology experience is required.
• Active Medical Assistant license.
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience using Microsoft Excel.

Special Considerations:

• This is a maternity leave coverage position from November 2026 through March 2027 with possibility of extension or permanent placement.
• Position is on-site at a single clinic location; no floating between units.
• No weekend or on-call requirements.
• Local and non-local candidates may apply.

Scheduling:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, 5 days per week.
• Weekends off.
