Administrative Officer (Company Manager) Job Summary Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) is Utah’s premier professional theatre company, operating under a LORT B agreement with the Actor’s Equity Association and contracting with the industry’s other creative unions. In residence at the University of Utah since 1962, PTC produces a season of six plays and musical productions from September through May in the 932-seat Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre and 387-seat Meldrum Theatre. The Company Manager serves as the chief liaison between PTC and its guest artists—actors, directors, designers, and playwrights—overseeing their working, living, and travel experiences. The position manages Meldrum House, PTC’s guest artist housing, and serves as PTC’s facilities manager with liaison responsibilities to University facilities and transportation teams. Responsibilities Collaborate with the on‑site building manager overseeing maintenance and contract for linen and cleaning services of Meldrum House. Book all travel for guest artists and staff through the University of Utah’s Travel Office. Greet guest artists on arrival, assist with transportation, and manage transportation and logistics for cast pickups and drop‑offs; assist in shipping guests’ possessions, sending materials such as scripts and scores, and returning rental items to licensing companies. Act as primary contact person for guest artists during residency, handling medical‑related issues, booking doctor’s appointments, arranging transportation for medical visits, and submitting workers’ compensation claims. Coordinate with university departments as the facility manager for Simmons PMT, addressing building and grounds issues on behalf of the Theatre Department and programs that use those spaces. Assist the Associate Artistic Director in supervising student interns from the U’s Department of Theatre. Assist in managing schedules and staffing for local auditions held for PTC productions. Provide staff support to PTC’s Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, and General Manager, and collaborate with the stage management department on guest artist matters while in residence. Work Environment / Physical Requirements Office environment; nearly continuous sitting, hearing, listening, talking; often repetitive hand motion, walking, bending, and reaching overhead. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (equivalency allowed). Three years of experience in maintaining complex financial records, developing and monitoring departmental budgets, and preparing related reports; demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Preferences Bachelor’s degree in theatre or related field; hospitality, artist or customer relations experience with strong multitasking and organizational skills. One to three years as a stage manager or company manager working with Equity actors; familiarity with Actors’ Equity Association and operation of a LORT theatre or Equity touring production preferred.
