Overview Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) is Utah’s premier professional theatre company, operating under a LORT B agreement with the Actor’s Equity Association and contracting with other creative unions. Since 1962, PTC has operated in residence at the University of Utah, producing a season of six plays and musicals from September through May in the 932‑seat Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre and 387‑seat Meldrum Theatre. Position Summary The Company Manager serves as the chief liaison between PTC and its guest artists—actors, directors, designers, and playwrights—overseeing their housing, travel, and overall experience. The role also functions as PTC’s facilities manager and liaison to University facilities and transportation teams, managing parking, security access, and venue needs. The Manager reports to the General Manager, with a dotted line to the Artistic Director, and works with marketing, development, patron services, and the business office. Responsibilities Manage Meldrum House, coordinating with the on‑site building manager, maintenance contractor, linen, and cleaning services. Book all travel for guest artists and staff through the University of Utah Travel Office. Provide a warm welcome to guests upon arrival, arrange pick‑up and drop‑off, and allocate staff time via an hourly budget. Handle logistics such as shipping guests’ possessions, sending scripts, scores, production specs, and returning rental materials to licensors. Serve as primary contact for guests during residency, including booking medical appointments and processing workers’ compensation claims. Act as Facilities Manager for Simmons PMT, collaborating with University departments (Parking Services, Plant Operations, Custodial) on building and grounds issues and addressing theater‑related facility needs. Assist the Associate Artistic Director in supervising a team of student interns and in managing schedules and staffing for local audition events. Provide ad‑hoc support to PTC’s Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, and General Manager, and coordinate with the stage‑management department on resident‑artist matters. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent education/experience). Three years of experience in maintaining complex financial records, developing and monitoring departmental budgets, and preparing related reports. Demonstrated organizational, human‑relations, and effective communication skills. Ability to perform essential functions of the position as outlined. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in theatre or related field, or strong experience in hospitality, artist, or customer relations. One to three years experience as a stage manager or company manager working with Equity actors. Familiarity with Actors’ Equity Association standards and operation of a LORT theatre or Equity touring production. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Work Environment Nearly continuously in an office setting with occasional outdoor tasks and responsibilities related to parking, maintenance, and guest coordination. Employment Details Full Time; 40‑hour week Monday to Friday with occasional nights, Saturdays, and Sundays as needed. Location: Campus. Pay Rate Range: $40,000 to $49,000.
