Job Summary And Qualifications The Telemetry Tech monitors the ECG patterns of patients and facilitates the review and documentation of ECG strips. Evaluates ECG rhythms and notifies the RN of dangerous arrhythmias and/or other changes. Works collaboratively with hospital staff and other personnel in maintaining quality patient care in the clinical setting. Participates in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety and quality of care. Fulfills departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Bayshore Medical Center. What you will do in this role: Assists with the review and interpretation of ECG strips. Accurately documents the interpretation of ECG strips and places appropriate ECG strips in the medical record. Completes and demonstrates proficiency with unit based clinical and age-appropriate nursing competencies. Complies with applicable hospital policy/procedure. Educates staff and physicians on function and use of the telemetry monitoring system. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Diligently observes cardiac monitors for the presence of abnormal variations in heart rhythm. Ethics and Compliance. Accountable for attending annual Code of Conduct training. Immediately reports life threatening arrhythmias to the RN and timely notifies RN of other changes in patient’s cardiac rhythm. Participates in hospital performance improvement activities to improve safety and patient outcomes. Performs general maintenance of the telemetry system (cleans telemetry boxes & leads, checks function of the system, maintain supplies). Performs other duties as assigned or required. Promotes an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork by exhibiting professional behavior that demonstrates a commitment to the provision of quality patient care and support of a professional working environment.
