Position Summary: 

Has the responsibility to promote safety and provide protection to life and property of those who live and work at St. John’s. 

Qualifications & Education Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• NYS Security Guard license or NYS Security Guard certification preferred
• Valid NYS driver’s license with ability to meet agency driving standards.
• Current CPR AED certification required.
• Basic computer knowledge
• One year of experience in the security field. Experience in a health care setting preferred
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services

Position Responsibilities :

• Monitors the grounds and building to ensure safety
• Secures residents’ belongings.
• Administrates lost & found section
• Maintains and assures safe handling and proper care of protective services equipment
• Assists with all emergencies until properly relieved.
• Enforces traffic and parking rules 
• Monitors SJH fire system
• Monitors door & assistance alarms
• Leads the way in customer service and answers SJH phone system 
• Investigates & reports unsafe practices or conditions
• Assist in conducting major & minor investigations of incidents and/or accidents.
• Conducts disaster drills & fire drills as required
• May teach fire/safety classes to residents & staff as assigned 
• Make safety inspection tours of the facility as assigned
• Provide escorts of employees when necessary

Physical Requirements:

• Walking, running, lifting (as much as 50 lbs.), pushing (as much as 250 lbs.), climbing stairs.

• May be exposed to infectious diseases. Exposed to physical aggression
