Mercy Hospital is home to skilled, compassionate surgeons leading the way in cardiac care. With 5 cardiac ORs, Mercy Hospital has helped pioneer some of the nation's most innovative heart procedures, including robotic, minimally invasive, standard heart surgery and TAVR. This CVOR performs nearly 200 open heart surgeries per year. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), you will provide care to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. You will perform scrub and circulating functions, prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for surgery and assist the operating physician with surgical tasks.

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM 4:30PM or 6:00AM 2:30PM, with on-call and rotating weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic's Perioperative Residency Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire
• OR experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
