Activity Therapist

Caton Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center - ACTIVITY THERAPIST We are looking for proactive, passionate, talented team-oriented employee to join our organization as we are looking to grow a diverse and creative team. This position will support the recreation team and the interdisciplinary teams in meeting the emotional, spiritual and social needs of the residents through a variety of individual, group and bedside recreational programs. The RT will possess a compassionate and professional approach when dealing with families, staff and outside community. Will design and implement therapeutic recreational activities/programs to stimulate, engage and foster enthusiasm of resident participation. Must be detail oriented, organized and possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Must be willing, ready and able to work in groups and individually; be creative and problem solver willing to adapt to change in order to meet goals and outcome results. Join us and connect to the Caton Park family! Responsibilities Welcomes, acquaints and orients new residents to the facility; Interview, evaluates and assesses each newly assigned resident. Designs, implements, conducts and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs (group and one to ones) including the creative arts, which meet resident needs and maximize resident strengths. Designs programs specific to each residents needs and physical condition. Inputs group and individual programs in the recreation calendar in a timely manner. Provides therapeutic and meaningful activities: such as group and individual programs as scheduled. As well as provide daily attendance of residents attending programs and inputs attendance in a timely manner. Encourages residents voluntary participation in activities: such as special and holiday events, and all types of weekly entertainment. Invites and escorts residents to on and off activity programs ensuring their safety and security by monitoring whereabouts during programs, and at all times when residents are present. Initiates and maintains progress notes, MDS and Care plans on each resident on assigned floors and relates goals and progress of residents. All related documentation must be updated on time. Appropriately utilizes specific behavioral techniques for dementia resident and other populations. Demonstrates consistent punctuality and attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Degree and/or Knowledge in therapeutic recreation field, music, art, drama, dance/movement, yoga, puppetry, drama, etc. are required and A PLUS. Ability to play at least one musical instrument (keyboard, guitar, drum) is A PLUS. Experience: 1 year /+ of employment in related field (LTC Facilities). Schedule: 9:00 am -5:00 pm, will include evenings, weekends and holidays. #J-18808-Ljbffr
