Superintendent/Project Manager

This Superintendent role offers the opportunity to take ownership of high-visibility road construction projects with a fourth-generation, family-owned organization that has grown into one of the region's largest asphalt and concrete paving contractors. The company specializes in general contracting, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and construction-material production, giving its field leaders access to extensive internal resources and capabilities. This is a full-time position built for an experienced construction professional who wants meaningful responsibility, the authority to make decisions, and the equipment, technology, and organizational support needed to deliver challenging projects successfully. Compensation, bonus structure, benefits, and relocation assistance will be discussed during the hiring process. The position is primarily field-based and requires travel between regional jobsites, with hours that may exceed 40 per week and include evenings or weekends during demanding phases of construction. For someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys solving problems in real time, and wants to see the direct results of their leadership, this is an opportunity to play a critical role in shaping major roadways and infrastructure. No two days will look exactly the same. The Superintendent typically begins by reviewing the critical-path schedule, production goals, staffing, equipment availability, material deliveries, subcontractor activity, weather conditions, and any safety or operational concerns that could affect the day's work. From there, the Superintendent coordinates crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials across one or more active jobsites, working closely with the Project Manager to turn bid documents, estimates, and project plans into safe and profitable field execution. Throughout the day, this individual remains highly visible in the field, checking production rates and quantities, monitoring material yields, verifying quality, addressing equipment or staffing issues, and adjusting the plan when conditions change. The Superintendent communicates with foremen, project managers, schedulers, subcontractors, inspectors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to keep work moving and prevent small issues from becoming costly delays. Responsibilities also include tracking actual start and finish dates, measuring completed quantities, identifying extra work or differing site conditions, documenting time-and-material work, and supporting potential change orders or claims. At the end of the day, the Superintendent evaluates progress against the schedule and budget, confirms upcoming priorities, and ensures the team has the labor, equipment, materials, and information needed for the next phase of work. This is not a desk-bound management position. It is a hands-on field leadership role requiring urgency, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the confidence to make important decisions in changing conditions. Veterans with experience leading personnel, coordinating equipment and resources, enforcing safety standards, and accomplishing missions under demanding field conditions are an excellent fit for this role.
