Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Unit

Location: Kansas City, MO

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our psychiatric unit, providing high-quality care to patients aged 12 to 18 and adults. The role requires strong assessment skills, therapeutic communication, and the ability to manage medication effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' mental health status, recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders and behavioral problems.
• Develop individualized care plans tailored to patients' needs.
• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects.
• Provide crisis intervention, including de-escalation techniques and medication management.
• Utilize therapeutic communication to build trust and rapport with patients.
• Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and medication effects.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current RN license and certifications in BLS and CPI.
• Proven ability to assess and manage patients in a psychiatric setting.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and crisis intervention techniques.
