Job Title: Nurse PICU (Pediatric ICU) About the Position These positions are located at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. For more information, visit: Responsibilities Deliver advanced, specialized nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients ranging in age from neonate to 18 years. Provide support to physicians during complex and potentially life‑threatening procedures, including cardioversion and the insertion of invasive lines such as arterial, venous, and pulmonary artery catheters. Prepare and administer high‑risk medications as well as intravenous fluids in support of initiating advanced cardiovascular life support interventions. Assess patients’ cardiac output, vital signs, peripheral perfusion, and level of consciousness, and evaluate blood gas results, including arterial and mixed venous oxygen saturation. Assess the effectiveness of nursing interventions based on patient responses and modify the care plan as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. Design Family Nursing Care Plans to support critically ill patients and their families in achieving the highest possible level of physiological, psychosocial, and psychological outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens. Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Critical Care). A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program. Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a state or territory; and passed the National Council Licensure Examination. Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to GS-9 grade level or above) providing critical care nursing to pediatric, adult, or medical‑surgical patients; administering medications; and operating specialized medical equipment. Educational Requirement: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field, OR completion of a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a professional nursing program. Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education from a professional nursing program also acceptable. Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities, credentials must be evaluated by a recognized private organization and deemed equivalent to a U.S. program.
