We're looking for a hands-on, observant runner/busser to support the dynamic team at Saint James Diner.

Palihotel San Diego features Saint James French Diner, a restaurant and bar that blends the utilitarian nature of an American diner with the subtle elegance of French bistro cuisine. Our menu is hearty and simple, yet refined by nature, paying homage to roadside food halls in Southern France. It's shared mussels and a beer in the afternoon and it's a burger and two martinis at night. It's sensible, unpretentious, and totally chic! Tasks at hand:

• You're a friendly face that enhances our guests' experience by bringing your own flavor to the table
• Making sure guests are having a fabulous time, from the moment they arrive until it's time to say goodbye.
• Creating a warm, friendly, and laidback atmosphere that turns first-time guests into regulars.
• Learning our steps of service, products, menu, and systems inside and out.
• Working side by side with kitchen staff and servers to ensure all orders look delicious and match guest requests
• Learning the menu front to back so you can present dishes with accuracy
• The ability to explain ingredients and preparation methods for each item in a helpful and friendly manner
• Developing a sound understanding of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, capacity, and hours of operation
• Delivering food and beverage items in a prompt and hospitable manner
• Active communication with servers and applicable team members of wait times and any product shortage
• Assisting servers with food and beverage service and bussing to ensure guest satisfaction
• Maintaining stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods with necessary equipment including silverware, linen and condiments.
• Performing any general cleaning tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager to adhere to health standards
• Performing other duties as requested, such as cleaning spills, handling guest requests, greeting and seating guests and ensuring overall guest satisfaction

• Perform job junctions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy

• Follow directions thoroughly
• Understand guest's service needs
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
• Work with minimal supervision
• Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
• Ability to carry up to 40lbs.
• Ability to walk, stand, and bend continuously throughout the day.
• High school certificate or equivalent
• Previous experience preferred
• All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
