Human Resources Generalist

LOCATION: Harrisburg, NC 28075 — fully on-site SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours/week) COMPANY OVERVIEW My client is a family-owned manufacturer with approximately 140 employees, operating out of a single location in Harrisburg, NC. The company specializes in hot-dip galvanizing and has a fabrication division. REASON FOR HIRE This is a temporary backfill for the current HR Generalist, who will be out on a leave of absence beginning in October. The assignment is expected to run from mid-to-late October through the beginning of 2027, with a target start date no later than mid-September to allow a few weeks of overlap and training with the current HR Generalist. There are currently no plans for this position to become permanent. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Payroll Run weekly and monthly payroll cycles for approximately 120 hourly and 20 salaried employees, single-state Submit weekly payroll for roughly 10 temporary employees across multiple staffing agencies Manage all aspects of payroll, including garnishments Approve timecards Work within UKG (primary HR/payroll/ATS system) and Time Trax (separate timekeeping system) Screen candidates for hourly positions and coordinate interviews Work with approximately 5 staffing agencies, managing an average of 5-10 candidates weekly Manage candidates through the ATS (UKG) Support onboarding and new-hire orientation, including plant tours and enrolling employees in timeclock systems Employee Relations & Benefits Lead employee check-ins and serve as an active, visible presence on the floor and throughout the facility Assist new hires with benefits enrollment and answer basic benefits questions (note: annual open enrollment has already passed, so this is limited to new-hire enrollments, not a full OE cycle) PREFERRED BACKGROUND Minimum 3 years of relevant HR experience Payroll experience is the top priority UKG experience is highly preferred Strong Excel skills are a big plus Experience recruiting for industrial, heavy manufacturing, construction, machine operator, welding, or skilled-trades positions would be helpful Manufacturing background preferred but not required More experienced candidates are preferred WORK ENVIRONMENT Private office with an open-door culture Steel-toed boots and a hard hat are required when on the production floor #J-18808-Ljbffr Ferretti Search
