Nursery Worker

Job Summary WATERING PLANTS, PLANTING PLANTS, FORKLIFT, FARM TRACTOR, LOADING AND UNLOADING PLANTS, INVENTORY, CLEANING, MAINTAINING PRODUCT, MOVING RACKS, LIFTING PRODUCT, SELECTING PRODUCT, TRIMMING PRODUCT, DISPOSING PRODUCT. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS AND OBSERVE SAFETY RULES. MAINTAIN HOUSEHOLD AREA IF APPLICABLE. Responsibilities Water, plant, and harvest crops using a variety of equipment including forklifts and farm tractors. Load, unload, and inventory plants while ensuring product quality is maintained. Clean and maintain product storage areas, moving racks and disposing of waste product. Follow directions, safety rules, and maintain clean housing areas if applicable. Work Conditions Field work begins at an assigned time, which can vary from before daylight or shortly after to afternoon start times. Work environment is dirty, dusty, damp, with temperature fluctuations ranging from above 100 °F to below 35 °F. Work during light rain, high humidity, and often requires sustained standing, walking, bending, and climbing. Repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling, and walking are part of the routine. Must supply own work clothes and be willing to work on the farm incidental to the listed crops. Requirements Full understanding of and compliance with food safety rules and excellent personal hygiene. Visually able-bodied and physically able to lift at least 50 lbs consistently throughout the day. Multi-limb coordination ability while standing, walking, and climbing for long periods. Ability to maintain work and housing areas clean, safe, and to promptly report problems. Capacity to work on their feet in a bent position for long periods and perform required farm tasks. Sanitation Requirements All workers are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for nursery activities.
