Seasonal Inclusion Coordinator

CAMP OVERVIEW:

Camp Twelve Trails gives children entering Kindergarten - 10th grade the best of both specialty and traditional day camp programs. It is comprised of five Neighborhoods (elective tracks): Play , Create , Explore , Discover , and Grow that allow campers to strengthen their skills in their favorite specialty while encouraging them to explore new 

areas. Our program is rooted in universally shared values central to Jewish life. These values are incorporated into everything we do, with the hope that it encourages our staff and campers to be the best versions of themselves.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Inclusion Coordinator assists in the implementation of our overall inclusion model by providing essential support and guidance to our Inclusion counselors who work directly with the campers requiring additional support. This includes assisting in de-escalation and implementing appropriate interventions and to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved. You will also play a key role in developing and implementing behavior management plans tailored to the individual needs of our campers. Through careful assessment and collaboration with the inclusion leadership team and the camp staff, you will identify triggers and underlying factors contributing to challenging behaviors, providing guidance on effective strategies for managing and modifying these behaviors in a positive and supportive manner. Additionally, you will help maintain ongoing communication with parents, providing updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns, ensuring they feel supported and involved in their camper's experience.

DUTIES PRE CAMP:

• Assist with pre-camp check-in phone calls to both new and returning Inclusion campers' families, gathering important information about the campers' needs, addressing concerns, ensuring a smooth transition into the camp environment and establishing open lines of communication.
• Review camper intake forms, IEPs and/or 504 plans.
• Support in the development of pre-camp staff training sessions focused on inclusion strategies, behavior management techniques, and de-escalation tactics.
• Assist with assigning Inclusion counselors to campers based on the specific needs of the campers and the skill sets of the counselors.
• Attend all weekly leadership meetings in May, and additional Inclusion Committee meetings in May & June.
• Attend the Zoom Inclusion Family Webinar in May.

DUTIES DURING CAMP:

• Assist with the implementation of support for campers in the Inclusion Program.
• Provide ongoing guidance and support to the Inclusion Counselors.
• Provide strategies and techniques for managing behaviors in a positive and supportive manner.
• Regularly observe campers in their camp activities to assess progress and ensure that inclusion strategies are being effectively implemented.
• Act as a resource for staff in managing crisis situations effectively and calmly.
• Assist staff in developing and implementing behavior management plans for children with challenging behaviors.
• Assist with sensory breaks or accommodations to help campers self-regulate and remain engaged throughout the day.
• Provide support and guidance to staff in implementing behavior plans and reward systems tailored to individual needs.
• Help to create visual schedules and other visual resources.
• Assist in the performance evaluations of the Inclusion Counselors throughout the summer, both formally and informally. 
• Work collaboratively with specialists and Tribe Leaders.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, special education or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children or individuals with special needs, preferably in a camp, school, or recreational setting.
• Knowledge and leadership in promoting the physical, intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well-being of children. 
• Strong understanding of Inclusion, behavior management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a team.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine desire to support and advocate for children with additional needs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs.

Status: 

• Seasonal.
• Mondays through Fridays, June 29 – August 14, 2026, including 40-45 hours of staff training in May and June.

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm during the summer.

Salary Range: $6500.
