Under the general supervision of the SR. Probation Officer, Deputy Chief, and Chief the position supervises those clients placed on Bond and Community Control, assigned to a specialized caseload, or other special duties as determined by the Deputy Chief and Chief. The primary responsibility is to promote public safety in the community through the active supervision of clients and the active support of the values of the Adult Probation Department and the Judges of the General Division. Assist with all criminal justice officials, agencies, institutions, and treatment providers; ensure that proper mental health and substance abuse treatment is provided to the clients; monitor the progress of court-ordered treatment programs; facilitate the resocialization and reintegration of clients into the community through accountability and competency, thereby lowering the client's risk of recidivism. Monday-Friday 730-4 pm, half-hour lunch

Duties/Responsibilities
• The ability to work well with co-workers and maintain professionalism.
• Provide culturally competent services to clients, the public, and colleagues in a manner that is sensitive to
the service population and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
• Maintain a healthy working relationship with community agencies and criminal justice partners.
• Participate in and complete training and other job-related education.
• Recommend and enforce Court-ordered sanctions for clients.
• Operate urinalysis and breathalyzer testing equipment.
• Assist other staff in the performance of their duties.
• Perform special duties as assigned by the Court, Deputy Chief, and Chief
• Maintain issued equipment, firearms, and other less-than-lethal weapons.
• Provide a timely response to violations of supervision terms and conditions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality concerning information obtained during the operation of the department
programs.
• Make appropriate recommendations to the Court regarding sentencing, bond amounts and/or conditions,
and other dispositional matters based on verified information in compliance with the statutes and
sentencing guidelines of the Ohio Revised Code.
• Supervise caseloads according to client contact standards for client's home, office, employment, and
social services agencies.
• Ensure compliance with client payment agreements and financial sanctions such as vacated fines, court costs, etc.
• Ensure that all investigative reports are completed accurately, timely, and in conjunction with department values.
• Interview clients concerning Pre-Sentence Investigations /Bond Conditions/Court Ordered Supervision.
• Supervise all assigned clients before final disposition/or after disposition.
• Effectively addresses clients' risk and need issues through referral to appropriate resource providers.
• Successfully complete Probation Officer Academy and State Certification Testing for Firearm.
• Successfully re-qualify annually in state firearms training.

Skill in: Data entry and correspondence, preparing routine reports, using computers and related software applications; using office equipment such as telephones, copiers, and fax machines; communication; interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisor, general public, and court staff; ability to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction; handling sensitive and confidential information; maintaining accurate daily written documentation of case management activities undertaken to ensure offender compliance. Ability to : Follow specific instructions and guidelines; recognize safety warnings; make sound and reasonable decisions; ability to prioritize and organize responsibilities; ability to write in a meaningful and legible manner; maintain accurate records; ability to appropriately use the Ohio Community Supervision System; conduct search and seizure of persons and/or property in compliance with established departmental guidelines regarding use of force and/or evidence chain of custody; arrest and/or assist in the arrest of offenders; initiate revocation proceedings by writing and filing appropriate motions and/or judgment entries with the assigned Judge.

Degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, or a related field or has completed a career development program that includes work-related experience, training, or college credits providing a level of achievement that is equivalent to a bachelor's degree program that is sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position as listed in the position description. Ability to obtain and maintain an established level of proficiency in firearms, at least 21 years of age, and a valid Ohio Driver's License and meet County Driving policy. Ability to pass Probation Officer Academy, ORAS training, and Probation Standards training as required by House Bill 86. Supplemental Information EQUIPMENT USED: *Firearm,*Less than Lethal weapons, Portable Radio, Electronic Equipment,*Restraint Devices, Various Word programs, Office machines, Courtview, and Ohio Community Supervision System (OCSS). WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor work performed in temperatures within the normal comfort zone; outside work involving different climate changes; potential exposure on a routine basis to communicable illness and disease; Potential physical interaction with offenders. Incumbents may be subjected to personal injury, physical violence, blood, and body fluids. Work hours consist of forty-hour (40) work week. If the service of the probationary employee is unsatisfactory, the employee may be removed at any time during the probationary period. This position is grant funded. The continuation of this position under this grant and any potential renewal of this grant is at the discretion of the Bureau of Community Sanctions and/or the Greene County Common Pleas Court. There is a wide variety of benefits available to full-time permanent and some part-time permanent Greene County employees. These benefits include: health, dental, vision, life insurance, optional life insurance plans, wellness program, employee assistance program, and deferred compensation plans.
The County pays 80% of the health care premium and 39% of the dental premium. All full-time employees are eligible for $50,000 group life insurance paid 100% by the County. NOTE: Employees who are non-permanent, seasonal, intermittent, part-time scheduled for less than 60 hours per pay period, and external interim, are not benefit eligible.
