The Network Administrator is responsible for the operationalsupport, maintenance, deployment, and troubleshooting of theCollege's network infrastructure. Working closely with the SeniorNetwork Engineer, this position serves as the operational arm ofthe Network Team, ensuring the reliable day-to-day operation ofwired and wireless network services across campus. The Network Administrator will support a wide range of operationalinitiatives including switch deployment and replacement, wirelessaccess point installation and maintenance, network troubleshooting,data closet management, VLAN administration, and ClearPassoperations. The successful candidate will be expected to learn and understand theCollege's network architecture and standards, execute work inaccordance with established best practices, and progressivelyassume greater responsibility and autonomy as their knowledge andexperience grow. This role is highly hands-on and requires significant on-campuspresence. While project work and documentation are importantcomponents of the position, the primary focus is maintaining theoperational health, stability, and reliability of the College'snetwork infrastructure. Job Description Major Areas of Responsibility Review, test, validate, and maintain Network Standard OperatingProcedures. Monitor the Network group ticket queue in the ITS ticketingsystem and perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis,and issue resolution. Install, configure, maintain, and replace Aruba switching andwireless infrastructure. Deploy, onboard, and troubleshoot wireless access points andrelated infrastructure. Perform switch provisioning, firmware updates, modulereplacements, and hardware lifecycle activities. Maintain and organize network data closets, including cablemanagement, inventory validation, environmental monitoring, andequipment documentation. Assist with network modernization projects including switchrefreshes, wireless upgrades, network segmentation efforts, andinfrastructure improvements. Develop and maintain working knowledge of Aruba ClearPass andassist with operational administration, troubleshooting, endpointonboarding, and authentication-related issues. Utilize network management and monitoring platforms toproactively identify operational issues and improve networkreliability. Maintain IP address management records and ensure networkdocumentation remains accurate and current. Interface and interact with managed service providers, vendors,contractors, and other ITS teams to coordinate operationalactivities and support infrastructure initiatives. Collaborate with Information Security personnel by collectingdiagnostic information, reviewing firewall logs, and providingtechnical details necessary to support security investigations andfirewall rule requests. Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and providebest-effort response to critical network outages whenrequired. Occasionally provide on-site network support for home footballgames and other major campus events. Demonstrate proficiency in Aruba switching, wirelessinfrastructure, and network troubleshooting. Obtain Aruba certification, CCNA, or equivalent networkingcertification if not already held. Develop operational proficiency with Aruba ClearPassadministration and troubleshooting. Demonstrate the ability to independently execute routineoperational tasks and maintenance activities. Year 1: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the College's networkarchitecture, standards, and operational practices. Demonstrate proficiency in Aruba switching, wirelessinfrastructure, and network troubleshooting. Obtain Aruba certification, CCNA, or equivalent networkingcertification if not already held. Develop operational proficiency with Aruba ClearPassadministration and troubleshooting. Demonstrate the ability to independently execute routineoperational tasks and maintenance activities. Year 2: Achieve Aruba ClearPass certification if not alreadyheld. Assume ownership of defined operational initiatives andinfrastructure improvement projects. Demonstrate the ability to independently troubleshoot andresolve complex networking issues. Assist in mentoring junior technical staff and contribute tothe ongoing development of network documentation and operationalprocedures. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalentcombination of education and relevant work experience. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experiencesupporting enterprise networking environments. Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise switching andwireless infrastructure. Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Layer 2 switching,Layer 3 routing, VLAN architecture, DHCP, DNS, wireless networking,and network troubleshooting methodologies. Experience using common network diagnostic tools and utilitiesincluding SSH, ping, traceroute, packet captures, and cablecertification tools. Experience supporting Aruba, Cisco, or comparable enterprisenetworking platforms. Ability to interpret network logs, authentication logs, andfirewall logs to assist in troubleshooting and operational supportactivities. Strong commitment to documentation, operational consistency,and adherence to established standards and bestpractices. Preferred Qualifications Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA), Aruba CertifiedSwitching Professional (ACSP), Aruba Certified Mobility Associate (ACMA), or comparable Arubacertifications. Aruba ClearPass experience and certifications. Cisco CCNA or higher-level networkingcertifications. Experience supporting network access control platforms andauthentication technologies. Experience in higher education or similarly complex enterpriseenvironments. Salary Range: The salary range for the Network Engineer role$80,000-$87,000 commensurate with education and experience.
