Produce Inspector I

US Foods Produce Inspector Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am to 8:00am. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, strong safety culture, and more. Responsibilities Communicate daily with buyers and warehouse manager on all issues related to perishable items; recommend actions for dump, damage, or repackaging. Inspect and verify purchase order quantities for all inbound perishable loads. Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pests and rodents before unloading. Ensure compliance with all SOPs for receiving, storage, and shipping; identify issues to warehouse management. Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report any violations. Maintain proper rotation of all produce inventory and other perishable items. Perform daily quality inspections of all perishable items. Perform daily date checks and remove all outdated product from pick and reserve slots. Complete daily dump and damage reports and deliver to warehouse supervisor or inventory control. Relationships Internal: Buyers, Warehouse Management. External: Vendors, Suppliers, Third‑Party Consultants, Regulatory Bodies. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of produce experience (foodservice, retail, grower/shipper) or similar. Must operate an electric pallet jack. Must work well without close supervision. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to lift 50 lbs and sit/stand for extended periods. Team player, flexible, and eager to learn as the business evolves. Compensation Base hourly rate: $18.18–$30.30, depending on experience, education, and location. Overtime may be available.
