Accounting & Tax Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting & Tax Specialist to support payroll processing and related accounting functions while providing professional, responsive service to their clients. This is a role for someone who can work independently, manage deadlines, solve problems, and look for ways to make processes more efficient-not simply maintain the status quo.

Schedule: Full-time (extended hours during tax season)

Pay: $24.00+/hour (based on experience) | Overtime and bonus opportunities

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate with clients to gather information and documentation needed for tax return preparation
• Prepare or assist with individual and small business tax returns
• Review financial information, data, and completed forms for accuracy and completeness
• Identify missing information, errors, or discrepancies and follow up to resolve issues
• Answer client questions and provide guidance related to tax and accounting matters
• Perform bookkeeping and payroll tasks

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation, including individual returns and related schedules
• Experience with payroll processing, payroll tax payments, and year-end reporting preferred
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, payroll software, and 1099 preparation preferred
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to review financial information, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple deadlines
• Professional communication skills with the ability to work independently, interact with clients, and adapt to changing priorities
