Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, floating to ER and Med-Surg, and an active NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift position, 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM
• 12-bed ICU unit with a 1:2-3 patient ratio
• Patients require total ICU care including ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
• Floating required to the Emergency Department and Med-Surg departments
• When floating to the ED, nurses assist with call lights, medication passing, patient transport, IV starts, and blood draws rather than taking a full patient assignment
• When floating to Med-Surg, nurses may be assigned a full patient load of up to 6 patients or may serve in an aide role covering up to 12 patients
• Float rotation is tracked via a float log; house supervisors may override rotation based on departmental needs
• No on-call required
• EMR: MedHost
• Any scrub color is acceptable

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the start date
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Experience in both ER and Med-Surg settings required
• TNCC preferred
• Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Valid driver's license required

Additional Information

• 13-week contract
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Holiday coverage is required
• RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
• Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico; this process can take several weeks
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
• Blocked scheduling may be accommodated if requested upfront
