Cash Application Specialist

The Cash Applications Specialist II will perform various financial and administrative duties and assignments in support of cash receipts and cash application, working in conjunction with the billing and credit/collections departments. Key Responsibilities Oversee the timely and accurate application of the company’s cash receipts in a fast‑paced goal‑oriented finance department. Process credit card transactions and issue refunds. Resolve non‑standard transactions. Identify and implement process improvements. Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support billing, collections, and accounting departments. Communicate and follow through effectively with both internal and external customers on a timely basis. Ensure accurate application of cash receipts between multiple entities, including inter‑company accounting. Work closely with collectors on unpaid invoices, overpayments, and unapplied/misapplied checks. Contact customers to identify unapplied cash receipts. Meet defined departmental goals and metrics. Collaborate with Billing Department and Collections to resolve billing issues. Interact regularly with other departments and offices within the organization. Physical Working Conditions Requires high attention to numerical detail. Requires ability to communicate verbally. Requires ability to work at a computer station. Office environment with keyboard activities, lifting no more than 20 lbs, sitting, walking, and general office duties. Basic Qualifications Associates degree in accounting or equivalent accounting experience. 3+ years of general office experience in accounts receivable procedures and general accounting. Preferred Qualifications Good organizational, math, and communication skills. Initiative‑taking ability to prioritize and manage a variety of responsibilities. Computer literate – PC skills with knowledge of spreadsheet applications. Ability to adapt to an ever‑changing role as new technologies emerge. Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail; goal‑oriented. VLOOKUP knowledge is a must. Experience with Oracle is a plus. Commitment to excellent customer service. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
