Business Manager (part-time, 25 hours per week) The business manager oversees three core areas: human resources, bookkeeping, and general office management; ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with federal, state, and county regulations. This role implements and monitors financial and human resource policies, maintains efficient and well‑documented organizational processes, and handles confidential matters with discretion. Key Responsibilities: Office Operations: Develop and maintain professional business relationships, serve as liaison, and primary administrator to insurance agents, brokers, outsourced accounting, and vendors and partners, and manage all processes from quote, payment, claims, etc. Provide senior management with updates and recommendations related to office operations. Track all licenses, insurance, contracts, taxes, memberships, and other renewals, ensuring timely administration and payment. Keep login information for all portals and websites. Maintain and organize organizational records, contracts, and administrative files (physical and digital). Bookkeeping: Oversees day‑to‑day financial and accounting functions and maintains safekeeping of financial records and contracts. Assist with budget preparation and tracking, financial reporting, audit preparation, grants management, especially invoicing and receiving grant funds; keep a restricted fund log. Manage all aspects of account receivables: record all income from sales and donations, including bank deposits, online purchases, PayPal and other transactions using accurate general ledger and class accounts; prepare weekly cash deposit, deliver it to bank, and record it in accounting software; track outstanding payments, and follow‑up. Manage all aspects of accounts payable: invoice verification, payments, data entry into accounting software, and check printing and delivery. Collect and record all credit card purchases weekly in QuickBooks Online, using accurate general ledger and class accounts. Manage all aspects of payroll: enter, maintain, and process payroll information for a bi‑weekly payroll, including employees’ compensation, time worked, leave, deductions, and employee updates; ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions. Accurately train other staff members to use QuickBooks Online, and other software and systems. Assist other departments with their billing and collection. Human Resources: Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of human resource files, records, and documentation, performing periodic audits to ensure compliance and completeness. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FAMLI, ADA, EEO, etc.), and track required postings and regulatory deadlines. Manage HR policies and employee handbook updates; ensure staff acknowledgment. Assist with the recruitment process, including job postings and candidate communication as needed. Manage the onboarding process: secure collection of onboarding materials, conduct reference and background checks; direct the statewide background check process for camp and class staff, ensuring timeliness and adherence to licensing requirements. Conduct and record exit interviews; report any significant findings to management. Manage all benefits, including insurance and retirement plans; plan and implement annual open enrollment. Administer the performance review program, ensuring reviews are conducted timely and appropriate records are kept. Collaborate with staff to write and update job descriptions, ensuring consistency of format and content. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and concerns support conflict resolution and workplace issue management; advise managers on performance issues and documentation, answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to standard policies, benefits, and hiring processes, and promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture. Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3-5 years of progressive human resources and bookkeeping experience, preferably in non‑profits with government grants. Impeccable organizational skills; ability to meet and encourage others to meet deadlines, strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software. Ability to anticipate the needs of the organization and bring those to the attention of leadership. Positive attitude and collaborative approach, culturally sensitive. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Proven ability to work independently and in a team‑based environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Compensation and Benefits: The Business Manager is a regular part‑time position. The pay range is $22 to $25 per hour, depending on experience. This position earns vacation pay of 60 hours per year. 12 paid holidays (4 hours per day). Flexible hours. All employees are covered by Maryland’s Sick and Safe Leave Policy. EDUCATION

Education Associate (part-time, 20 hours per week) The Education Programs & Operations Associate plays a vital role in supporting the day‑to‑day execution of BlackRock Center for the Arts education programs. This position is responsible for coordinating course operations, maintaining registration systems, supporting faculty administration, and ensuring clear and consistent communication with students and families. Working closely with internal teams, clients, and teaching artists, this role ensures that programs are well‑organized, accessible, and delivered with a high level of care and professionalism. Key Responsibilities: Uphold BlackRock Center’s mission and values through all education program operations. Contribute to an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible learning environment. Support positive relationships with students, families, and teaching artists. Assist in building and maintaining seasonal course offerings. Input course information on Website and registration systems, maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date course listings. Support scheduling of classes, spaces, and program logistics. Track enrollment, attendance, and other data; flag trends, capacity issues, or opportunities. Assist in coordinating program materials and supplies. Support classroom readiness, program setup, and lead space maintenance throughout Education seasons. Help ensure smooth day‑to‑day program execution and assist in developing and improving systems and workflows. Support registration processes, including troubleshooting and user support. Support preparation and tracking of MOUs and teaching artist contracts. Maintain records of teaching schedules and agreements. Assist with onboarding communications for teaching artists. Serve as a primary point of contact for student and family inquiries. Send registration confirmations, reminders, and program updates. Serve as an all‑hands‑on‑deck team member during major events. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed for program setup. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
