Job Title: Production Associate

Job Description

The Production Associate builds pre-fabricated doors and door jambs by accurately measuring, aligning, and securing components according to established specifications and quality standards. This role involves operating basic hand and power tools, reading and following work instructions, and performing routine inspections to ensure proper fit, finish, and craftsmanship. The position is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced production environment, and able to safely lift and move materials as needed throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate woodworking machinery such as table saws, planers, sanders, routers, chop saws, nail guns, and CNC equipment, with training provided as needed.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood components for interior and exterior doors, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
• Prepare, lay out, and assemble door frames, panels, and custom components according to work orders and drawings.
• Inspect materials and finished products for accuracy, defects, and adherence to quality standards.
• Perform sanding, fitting, and adjustments to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and proper fit and finish.
• Follow established quality control procedures and promptly report any issues or defects to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation, keeping tools and materials properly stored and accessible.
• Perform basic machine setup, calibration, and routine maintenance on woodworking equipment as directed.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively, following all safety guidelines and best practices.
• Follow daily production schedules and meet output targets while maintaining quality standards.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow, efficient production processes, and timely order completion.
• Assist with material handling, including lifting, moving, and staging large doors and bundles of mouldings for assembly.
• Conduct inventory checks and help stage components and materials to support continuous production.
• Read and interpret materials pick sheets, simple drawings, and work orders to complete assigned tasks.
• Build and assemble crates or related packaging as needed to support shipping and handling of finished products.

Essential Skills

• Basic experience using hand tools or power tools, gained through professional work or hobbyist projects.
• Ability to comfortably operate a tape measure and chop saw and read a materials pick sheet.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and interpret simple drawings or work orders.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Capability to lift and maneuver large doors and heavy materials, with regular lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to learn new equipment, tools, and production processes.
• Ability to use woodworking assembly tools such as routers, table saws, nail guns, and other power and hand tools safely.
• Comfort working with construction, framing, finish carpentry, furniture assembly, or installation tasks.
• Basic understanding of safe power tool and hand tool operation in a production or construction setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in woodworking, carpentry, or manufacturing.
• Familiarity with woodworking processes, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling wood components.
• Experience in door, cabinet, or millwork production environments.
• Understanding of different wood species, joinery methods, and finishing techniques.
• Experience with router setup and operation in an assembly or production setting.
• Experience in crate building or similar woodworking assembly work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a warehouse production environment for the manufacturing of doors and mouldings. Team members may be exposed to sawdust and other wood products and should be comfortable working around active woodworking machinery and production equipment. The position requires regular handling of heavy materials, including large doors and bundles of mouldings, with frequent lifting throughout the shift, sometimes up to 100 pounds. Work is performed on your feet for extended periods in a fast-paced setting, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to production schedules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
