The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Ancillary Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing analytical work with relationship management in a fast-paced commercial furniture environment.
As an Ancillary Specialist, you will work closely with Business Developers, Project Managers, manufacturers, and vendor representatives to support the pricing, specification, and coordination of ancillary furniture solutions for client projects, proposals, and bid opportunities. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate pricing, organized project documentation, and seamless communication between internal teams and vendor partners.
In addition to supporting day-to-day project needs, this position offers the opportunity to expand your product knowledge, build strong industry relationships, and contribute to creative furniture solutions that align with client goals, budgets, and timelines. From researching products and coordinating vendor presentations to developing internal resources and identifying alternative solutions, the role provides broad exposure to multiple aspects of the commercial interiors industry.

Position Responsibilities
Pricing & Project Support:
· Prepare ancillary pricing specifications using CAP
· Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to obtain quotes, including pricing, discounts, lead times, and freight costs
· Review and verify vendor quotes against project specifications and resolve discrepancies
· Review plans and specification sheets to verify quantities and identify discrepancies
· Develop lists of exceptions and clarifications for products that cannot meet specifications exactly as written or differ from project plans
· Organize and maintain all supporting documentation within project job files for future reference
· Assist with proposal and bid development by gathering product images, warranty information, and additional supporting materials as needed
Product Selection & Specification Development:
· Assist with product selection and specification development for ancillary (non-MillerKnoll) furniture, excluding systems/workstations and complex conference tables
· Recommend alternative solutions to meet client needs, including budget-conscious, quick-ship, and value-engineered options
· Maintain current knowledge of ancillary furniture products, manufacturers, warranties, and industry trends
· Visit local showrooms to strengthen product knowledge, evaluate product quality, and build relationships with manufacturer representatives
Vendor & Relationship Management:
· Serve as a liaison between internal teams and manufacturers/vendors to support project success
· Maintain vendor representative contact information, discount structures, and freight terms
· Coordinate vendor presentations and mobile showroom tours
· Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendor and manufacturer representatives
Resource & Process Management:
· Update and manage internal resources, including price lists, warranty information, and quick-ship programs
· Create and maintain organized systems for storing ancillary research, product information, and supporting resources
· Collaborate with the marketing team to develop lookbook and inspiration materials for Business Developers
· Participate in additional special projects and assignments as needed
