Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)Location: Naval Base Ventura County Point MuguProject Type: Federal Construction ProjectStart Date: April 2026Duration: Approximately 6 MonthsCompensation: $60-65/hrPosition OverviewWe are seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for an upcoming federal construction project at Naval Base Ventura County – Point Mugu. This is a 6-month assignment beginning in April or May. The SSHO will be responsible for implementing and managing all aspects of the project’s Safety and Health Program in compliance with federal and site-specific requirements.The ideal candidate will have experience working on federal projects and a strong understanding of EM 385-1-1 safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and manage the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP)Ensure full compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standardsServe as the primary safety liaison with government representativesConduct daily site safety inspections and document findingsLead daily safety briefings and weekly safety meetingsReview and approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)Monitor subcontractor safety complianceInvestigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reportsMaintain all required safety documentation and reportingEnforce corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of safety issuesRequired QualificationsOSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (Required)EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Training (Required)Prior experience serving as SSHO on federal or USACE/NAVFAC projects preferredStrong knowledge of federal construction safety standardsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to pass background screening for base accessPreferred QualificationsFirst Aid/CPR/AED CertificationCHST, CSP, or equivalent safety credentialExperience working on active military installationsWork ScheduleFull-time, on-siteStandard construction work hours (may vary by project needs)E04JI800pcjj408pkdx #J-18808-Ljbffr
