Fairview is seeking a casual Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist to join our inpatient pediatric pharmacy team at UMMC West Bank in Minneapolis, MN. In this hospital‑based role, you’ll provide direct clinical and distributive pharmacy services to pediatric patients while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, effective, and evidence‑based medication therapy.As a Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist, you will deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care to hospitalized pediatric patients, supporting optimal outcomes through medication management, safety initiatives, and clinical collaboration. This role combines clinical pharmacy practice, medication distribution, education, and quality improvement in a fast‑paced inpatient hospital setting.ResponsibilitiesClinical & Patient CareProvide pharmaceutical care to pediatric inpatients as part of an interdisciplinary care teamReview and verify medication orders for appropriateness, including drug selection, dosing, route, interactions, and formulary complianceMonitor patient therapy and recommend medication adjustments in collaboration with prescribersProvide medication counseling and discharge education for selected patients and familiesRespond to pediatric code blue emergencies as assigned, assisting with emergency medication preparation and clinical supportMedication Safety & QualityEnsure medication safety through identification, documentation, and resolution of drug therapy problemsParticipate in medication safety initiatives, including Adverse Drug Event (ADE) review and Drug Use Evaluation (DUE) activitiesComplete medication safety reports and contribute to performance improvement effortsSupport formulary initiatives, including IV‑to‑PO conversions and therapeutic substitutionsPharmacy OperationsCoordinate and support drug distribution activities in assigned patient care areasPrepare and dispense medications, including sterile products and IV admixtures, using safe and compliant practicesEnter and review medication orders in the pharmacy information systemPerform medication storage inspections and ensure regulatory complianceEducation & CollaborationServe as a preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents during clinical rotationsProvide education and training to pharmacists, technicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionalsAct as a clinical resource for nursing staff on medication administration and drug therapy questionsFoster strong working relationships across departments to support patient‑centered careRequired QualificationsPharmD or Bachelors in PharmacyEligible for MN Pharmacy LicenseCompletion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency programPreferred QualificationsCompletion of a PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency or equivalent pediatric experienceBenefit OverviewAlthough this is considered a non-benefit eligible position, Fairview offers employees the option to participate in the Fairview 403(b) plan, earn Sick and Safe Time, and early access to earned wages.Compensation DisclaimerThe posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting.
