Business Development Manager - Fire & Life Safety

Adcock Systems is seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to lead sales growth, develop new business opportunities, and mentor a high-performing team of Sales Engineers. This role is ideal for an experienced sales leader who thrives on building customer relationships, driving revenue, developing talent, and identifying new opportunities within the fire alarm, life safety, and security systems industry.

Responsibilities What You'll Do 

• Develop and execute sales strategies that drive growth, market expansion, and profitability 
• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the fire alarm, life safety, and security markets 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, engineers, property managers, and key decision-makers 
• Lead, mentor, and develop Sales Engineers to support individual and team success 
• Monitor sales performance and ensure achievement of revenue and growth objectives 
• Manage and maintain the sales pipeline to ensure opportunities are effectively tracked and advanced 
• Collaborate with operations, estimating, accounting, and leadership teams to align sales efforts with company goals 
• Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth 
• Prepare and present sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and business development updates to leadership 
• Represent the organization at customer meetings, networking events, industry functions, and trade associations 

Leadership Responsibilities 
As a leader on the sales team, you will: 

• Train and mentor Sales Engineers on products, services, industry requirements, and the sales process 
• Establish performance expectations and coach team members toward achieving goals 
• Monitor pipeline activity and sales performance metrics 
• Help prioritize opportunities and allocate resources effectively 
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-driven team culture 
• Support team development through ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management 
• Assist in resolving challenges and obstacles that impact team success 

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field 
• Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably within the fire protection, life safety, security, or related industry 
• Proven track record of generating new business and achieving sales targets 
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development experience 
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills 
• Strategic mindset with the ability to make sound business decisions 
• Experience using CRM platforms and sales tracking software 
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, A.R.C. systems, life safety solutions, and applicable industry regulations 
• Ability to travel locally to meet with customers and attend industry events as needed 

Preferred Certifications  

• Valid Driver's License 
• OSHA Certification 
• NICET Certification
