As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll teach and advocate for students in specialized life skills programs, contributing to their progress both academically and personally. These assignments require dedication, empathy, and a passion for guiding diverse learners to their fullest potential.
What You’ll Need:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Experience working with life skills populations, preferably in a K-2nd and/or high school setting
- Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
- Collaborative approach with staff and families for student success
- Adaptable, reliable, and ready to step into new assignments as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instruction to a caseload of students with life skills needs
- Develop lesson plans and IEPs, tracking progress to support student growth
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents, therapists, and school team
- Manage classroom routines from 7:15 am – 3:30 pm daily
Role Highlights:
- Role A: Lead a K-2nd grade caseload (4 students) in life skills instruction, starting immediately.
- Role B: Opportunity to transition into a high school life skills role (5 students) beginning in November for a maternity leave, with the potential to continue through the academic year.
