This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving challenging problems and building mission-driven technology. \n Accountabilities: The Senior / Staff Backend Engineer will take ownership of core platform development, helping define architecture, build scalable services, and deliver innovative capabilities in a fast-moving environment. The role requires strong backend expertise, product ownership, and the ability to operate effectively with a high degree of autonomy. Own backend platform features from initial concept and architecture through implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement. Design, develop, and maintain low-latency, highly available backend services supporting real-time threat intelligence and critical event management capabilities. Build scalable distributed systems capable of processing large volumes of real-time data and external information sources. Integrate external data feeds and OSINT-style sources into platform pipelines to enhance intelligence capabilities. Contribute to AI pipeline architecture, agentic workflows, and automation systems that improve platform effectiveness. Drive 0→1 product development by identifying technical solutions, making architectural decisions, and delivering production-ready features. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates in a fully remote, distributed engineering environment. Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability through strong engineering practices. Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and strategic decisions that shape the future of the platform. Support continuous innovation by exploring new technologies and approaches to solve complex engineering challenges. Requirements: The ideal candidate is a senior-level backend engineer with proven experience building production systems and owning significant technical initiatives. They should be comfortable working in lean teams, navigating ambiguity, and delivering high-quality solutions with strong engineering judgment. Senior or Staff-level backend engineering experience with a strong track record of building production systems. Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of complex projects, products, or major features from concept through production. Experience designing and developing low-latency, highly available distributed backend systems. Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization. Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines in a flexible, fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in an asynchronous remote setting. Ability to independently drive technical initiatives while contributing to broader product and engineering strategy. Experience building workflow, automation, or user-configurable systems is a plus. Experience designing or maintaining AI/ML pipelines is preferred. Experience integrating external data sources such as threat intelligence, social data, or real-time event feeds is a plus. Previous experience working in an early-stage startup environment or small engineering team is preferred. Benefits: Competitive salary range of $180,000 – $205,000 per year.
