When customers walk through the door or call in with a time-sensitive need, the Counter Sales Representative is the face of Shepherd: knowledgeable, dependable, and ready to help.When quotes are accurate, products are identified quickly, and customers feel taken care of, they come back. This role protects revenue, builds loyalty, and strengthens the relationships that drive Shepherd’s growth.Work Shift and Hours:Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 3:00pmCompensation Details:The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $22.00 per hour depending on experience.Key Outcomes - Organized by what matters, not just what you do.Customer Experience & Sales SupportAssist walk-in and call-in customers with part identification, product selection, and order processingProvide accurate quotes and follow through to close — no dropped handoffsBuild strong customer relationships that bring contractors and facility managers back by nameRepresent Shepherd professionally in every interaction — appearance, conduct, and communicationProduct Knowledge & AccuracyDevelop and maintain working knowledge of electrical products across multiple product linesIdentify parts correctly so customers get what they need the first timeSupport accurate order processing so transactions are right before they leave the counterParticipate in ongoing product training to stay sharp and currentTeam & Branch SupportCollaborate effectively with branch teammates in a fast-paced environmentSupport multiple product lines and adapt to shifting priorities across the dayComplete tasks assigned by branch leadership with ownership and follow-throughFlag issues early — stock shortfalls, order concerns, customer escalations — before they compoundWhat Success Looks Like - After 90 days, you and your supervisor should both be able to point to these markers:Customers are greeted promptly and leave with the right product and a positive experienceQuotes and orders are processed accurately — rework and returns tied to counter errors are rareYou can identify common electrical products and navigate the Eclipse system confidentlyTeammates and supervisors trust that your counter runs without close supervisionYou are actively building customer relationships that generate repeat businessWho Thrives Here - This role is a strong fit if:You enjoy helping people and take satisfaction in solving problems quicklyYou take pride in accuracy and care whether things are done rightYou are dependable, organized, and steady under pressureYou communicate clearly and speak up when something is offYou are eager to learn the electrical industry and grow your expertise over timeQualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent required1–3 years of experience in the electrical industry preferred; attitude and reliability matter more than yearsProficiency in computer usage; familiarity with Eclipse software is a plusBilingual (Spanish) proficiency is a plusPhysical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift items up to 70 lbs.Strong attention to detail and commitment to getting things right the first timeDependable attendance and a team-oriented mindsetAbility to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirementsThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals occupying this position of employment.
