Electrical Discipline Lead

Job Description We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our multi‑disciplinary design team addressing the most challenging engineering tasks in power generation. The position supports projects in traditional steam, thermal power generation, and advanced nuclear technologies, including emerging stellarator fusion power initiatives. The role offers flexibility to work remotely or in a hybrid setting at various U.S. Energy offices. Compensation is based on experience and location, ranging from $155,000 to $185,000 annually. Responsibilities Support the Nuclear Technical Lead and Department Manager with strategic resourcing initiatives. Supervise and develop a team of electrical engineers to enhance technical deliverables and career satisfaction. Serve as Electrical Lead/Engineering of Record on projects, maintaining responsibility for deliverable development and contributing to design work. Lead improvements in project efficiencies by creating, updating, and implementing group‑specific standards, templates, and researching software packages or plug‑ins. Develop task and deliverable lists with associated hours estimates and schedules to support business development activities. Collaborate across disciplines on equipment general arrangements, P&ID’s, asset and tie‑in lists, orthographic drawings, etc. Provide technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence, and other studies, presenting complex solutions to clients. Support projects through the complete life cycle, including feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue‑for‑bid, construction, start‑up, and commissioning. Direct and contribute to the development of electrical engineering lists, specifications, and drawings (e.g., equipment specifications, cable and conduit load lists, one‑lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts). Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others. Participate in and present engineering work at internal and client meetings, including occasional travel. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 6 years of related experience in Electrical Engineering for Power Generation Facilities. EIT Certification with the ability to license as a PE within 1 year. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. 12+ years of experience with Power Generation Facilities. 5+ years of experience as project technical Electrical lead/electrical engineer of record. Experience in engineering and design of Combined Cycle Plants and/or Nuclear Generation Stations. Medium Voltage design experience. Complex electrical modeling experience (parallel generators, load balancing). Field construction and commissioning experience. Successful experience working in remote and multi‑discipline teams. Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.). Power systems analysis software proficiency (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower). Experience with collaborative model environments (e.g., Navisworks, BIM 360). Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi‑discipline programs/projects. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $155,000 to $185,000.
