Plumbing Design Technician

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a Plumbing Design Technician to support our Building Engineering team across multiple office locations. Responsibilities Assist with the plumbing design of multiple projects of various sizes. Prepare reports and studies. Select, specify, and estimate costs of plumbing system equipment and fixtures. Perform calculations as required. Conduct periodic construction site inspections. Perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Associate's degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university AND at least 5 years of relevant plumbing design experience. OR no degree but at least 7 years of relevant plumbing design experience. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. Ability to enter military bases; must pass required background checks. Preferred Experience Experience designing complex projects including fire suppression/sprinkler, compressed air/gas, laboratory water/gas, and medical gas systems. Performing calculations for system layout and sizing. Using Revit to create bid document drawings. Designing systems for Federal Government projects. Knowledge of plumbing, fire protection, and building codes. American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Certified Plumbing in Design (CPD) certification is preferred. Wisconsin Designer of Engineering System (DES) – Plumbing license is preferred. Experience or familiarity with generative AI-driven tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Claude, Gemini.
