Surgical TechnologistThe Surgical Technician assists the Surgical Team in organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities that occur in the surgical environment by performing assigned technical duties. Sign-on bonus of $5,000 for an experienced certified surgical technologist.Essential Job Functions*:Individualizes preoperative planning and prepares for surgical intervention to meet the needs of each patient and physician by:Reviewing physician preference cardsConsulting with the circulatorHaving knowledge and understanding of operative anatomy and physiologyKnowing the common complications of surgical proceduresPrepares surgical suite/clinical area and all supplies/equipment to ensure environmental safety for patients and staff as demonstrated by:Selecting appropriate supplies and equipmentChecking equipment for working order and reporting unsafe working conditions to the appropriate personHelping in physical preparation of the clinical areaVerifying exposure to sterilization processOpening supplies asepticallyEstablishing and maintaining sterile fieldIdentifying principles and techniques of disinfecting, sterilization and environmental controlAssisting with efficient room turnoverDemonstrates competency of assigned functions and application of basic and current knowledge by:Anticipating needs of the surgeonIdentifying breaks in the aseptic technique and reporting themDisplaying dexterity in the use of surgical instruments throughout proceduresKnowing the use of all needed equipment and suppliesMaintaining a neat and orderly field for proceduresDifferentiating between clean, contaminated and sterile areasParticipates in counting according to policyParticipates in all aspects of Central Sterile including decontamination, wrapping, sterilization, and biological monitoring.Attends and participates in hospital/departmental meetings as required.Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job.Demonstrates hospital's stated mission and values of teamwork, respect and communication with co-workers, patients, families and visitors.Actively and appropriately participates in problem-solving identification and resolution, both intra- and inter-departmentally.Meets department customer service standards and strives to enhance the level of customer service provided.Qualifications:EducationRequired: High School Graduate. Successful completion of Surgical Tech program.Work ExperienceRequired: Clinical experience in a health care setting.Preferred: Previous experience as a surgical technician.Licensure/Certifications/RegistrationsRequired: Certification as a Surgical Technician.
