As a Career Coach, you'll work directly with neighbors to help them identify career goals, build skills, access training opportunities, and connect with employers who offer pathways to long-term economic stability. Through the Center for Working Families (CWF) initiative, you'll play a key role in helping individuals and families move toward financial success and self-sufficiency. About the Role The Career Coach serves as a trusted guide, advocate, and connector for neighbors seeking employment and career advancement opportunities. In this role, you'll provide one-on-one coaching, facilitate workforce readiness training, build relationships with local employers, and help create opportunities that lead to sustainable careers and economic mobility. You'll also work collaboratively with community partners and JBNC team members to support neighbors throughout their career journey. A Day in the Life A typical day as a Career Coach involves meeting with neighbors to discuss career goals, assess skills, and identify opportunities for employment, education, or training. You'll spend time helping neighbors prepare resumes, complete job applications, practice interviewing, and navigate online job searches. Throughout the day, you'll build and maintain relationships with employers, coordinate hiring events, and connect neighbors to workforce development resources. You may also facilitate job readiness workshops focused on workplace professionalism, communication, and career advancement. In addition, you'll track program outcomes, maintain case notes, and ensure data is accurately recorded to support reporting and grant requirements. Every day brings new opportunities to encourage, empower, and support neighbors as they work toward long-term financial stability and career success. What You'll Do Career Coaching & Employment Support Provide individualized career coaching and employment support services. Help neighbors identify career pathways, training opportunities, and employment goals. Assist with resumes, job searches, applications, and interview preparation. Support neighbors in obtaining and retaining meaningful employment. Advocate for individuals facing employment barriers, including those with disabilities or prior justice system involvement. Coordinate and support hiring events and employment-related activities. Training & Workforce Development Facilitate job readiness, soft skills, and professional development workshops. Identify workforce trends and high-growth industries that offer sustainable wages and benefits. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve workforce programming. Help neighbors build the skills needed to achieve career success. Employer & Community Engagement Develop relationships with employers and workforce partners. Understand local hiring needs and connect qualified neighbors to opportunities. Collaborate with community organizations to expand access to education, training, and employment resources. Strengthen partnerships that support workforce development and economic mobility. Data & Program Reporting Maintain accurate case notes and participant records. Track employment outcomes and program performance. Support grant reporting and compliance requirements. Utilize data to identify barriers and improve employment outcomes. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Two or more years of experience in career coaching, workforce development, case management, community services, or a related field. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable transportation and ability to travel between community-based locations. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with individuals facing employment barriers. Workforce development, recruiting, employer engagement, or job placement experience. Knowledge of Indianapolis workforce resources and employer networks. Familiarity with the Near Eastside community. Experience facilitating workshops or training programs.
