Opportunity The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a full‑time veterinarian to support animals and the community through spay/neuter surgery, vaccine clinics, and care for homeless animals in our shelter. The veterinarian reports to a supervising veterinarian and may work at the Racine Campus or split time between Racine and Kenosha campuses, depending on experience and organizational needs. Job Details Location: Racine Campus – Mount Pleasant, WI 53177 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: DVM Salary Range: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 Job Category: Veterinary Services Responsibilities Perform high‑volume, high‑quality, safe spay/neuter surgeries for shelter and public animals. Perform other surgeries as needed for shelter animals. Ensure safe, effective and efficient medical processes from check‑in to discharge, including follow‑up. Vaccinate animals and provide quality medical screenings. Monitor the daily health of client and shelter animals. Provide medical information to clients and answer questions as needed. Develop and implement treatment plans for animals in shelter and foster care. Train and support WHS team members in all aspects of patient care and efficient/safe clinic practices, while maintaining a professional and positive approach. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications DVM degree and license required; high‑volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine experience preferred. Mentorship and training provided. Ability to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Ability to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work. Must be able to meet physical demands of the job, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions, routinely lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
