Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: WA or Compact License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; CRRN, PCCN preferred Must-Have: Experience managing Swans, Prismaflex CRRT, IABP; ability to titrate drips Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a mixed ICU setting. The nurse will primarily care for medical and cardiovascular patients. The unit has a total of 24 beds. Ratios for ICU level acuity are 1:1 or 1:2, while PCU level acuity is 1:3 to 1:4. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, COPD, COVID-19, pneumonia, withdrawal, and strokes. Experience with immediate open heart recovery and post-interventional catheterization is preferred. The nurse is required to titrate various drips, including sedation and vasoactive medications. Charge nurses and resource nurses are present on every shift, with charge nurses not taking patient loads. Certified Nursing Assistants are available with a ratio of 1:12. There are Clientists and Intensivists in-house 24/7, along with a dedicated pharmacist during the day. Respiratory therapy is also provided around the clock in the ICU. All ICU nurses are responsible for interpreting monitoring strips. Shifts are typically scheduled six weeks in advance, using a self-scheduling approach. Weekend work may be required, particularly on Sundays, due to high demand. Floating to other critical care floors or the emergency room may occur. Professional scrubs of any color are acceptable. Candidates should possess a flexible, team-oriented mentality. Experience with the Epic charting system is preferred.
