Resource Specialist Teacher Job Summary: Reporting to the Principal, the Resource Specialist Teacher designs and delivers individualized instruction for students by assessing academic, social‑emotional, and transition needs and using data to guide instruction, behavior supports, and IEP goals. Implements diverse instructional strategies and intervention programs to meet varied learner needs while promoting engagement, independence, and critical thinking. Maintains a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment through consistent behavior management, close supervision, and proactive de‑escalation practices. Collaborates with general education teachers and outside agencies to support students with disabilities (SWD). Ensures accurate, timely documentation and participates professionally as a team member while modeling positive behavior and communication. What You Will Do Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate IEP‑mandated accommodations, modifications, and services in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Partner closely with teams to design inclusive instructional practices that maximize student access to the general education curriculum through push‑in, pull‑out, and consultation models, as determined by each student’s IEP. Design and implement specialized, student‑centered instruction by conducting and analyzing academic, social‑emotional, behavioral, and transition‑related assessments. Translate assessment data into targeted instructional plans aligned to IEP goals and services, continuously refining instruction based on progress monitoring, data analysis, and individual student strengths and needs. Design engaging, inclusive instructional activities by leveraging multiple instructional strategies, intervention programs, and educational technologies. Design learning experiences that elevate student voice, choice, collaboration, and critical thinking and make learning relevant, rigorous, and connected to real‑world contexts. Empower students to own their learning by co‑creating and clearly communicating meaningful academic and personal goals. Help students track progress, reflect on outcomes, and build the confidence and skills needed to become self‑directed learners. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation including IEPs, progress reports, service logs, assessment data, behavior documentation, and communication records, in alignment with IDEA, California Education Code, district policies, and procedural timelines. Champion high‑quality, student‑centered IEPs by understanding each student’s history, strengths, and needs. Lead and contribute to IEP and treatment planning meetings with clarity and purpose. Develop measurable goals, implement targeted interventions, monitor progress, and communicate outcomes with students, families, and partners. Advocate for services in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) while ensuring students receive appropriate support to access and succeed in the general education curriculum. Strengthen partnerships with families and external agencies by maintaining open, collaborative communication, coordinating services, and supporting consistency between school, home, and community‑based supports. Engage in ongoing professional growth through required trainings, professional development, and staff collaboration to remain current with special education law, evidence‑based practices, and instructional strategies.
