Our leading technologies and our ability to apply them safely and effectively create value for our customers and our shareholders.The Machinist position requires skills developed through formal training or work experience, high attention to detail and safety. You will work within established procedures and guidelines with limited ability to modify approach and must complete assigned tasks with a moderate degree of supervision.Candidates will not only be interviewed but may be required to demonstrate key manual operating skills and/or knowledge including how to use measuring equipment and reading blueprints.Job ResponsibilitiesPerform operations including turning, facing, boring, drilling, reaming, threading, grooving, and other lathe/mill work operations as required.Experience with small/large diameter or long-length work (steady rest/follow rest), and tight tolerances.Must be competent in ID and OD threading and grooving.Perform work in compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality expectations while supporting a production scheduleExecute daily priorities and duties as defined by the supervisor or area leadUse and maintain measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges).Conduct in-process and final inspection; document results and report nonconformities.Inspect and ensure all dimensions are within print specifications and report any non-conformitiesThe employee must regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 30 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Ability to apply basic written and verbal communication skills in English.Ability to apply concepts of basic math and basic PC skills.Ability to read and comprehend instructions, work orders and drawings.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Ability to meet consistent attendance and punctuality.Safely operate shop equipment such as overhead crane/forklift where applicable (or ability to become certified).Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment.Demonstrate unwavering commitment to HMH Values, Compliance, Integrity and HSSE.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.3+ years as a manual machinist.Desired Characteristics5+ years as a manual machinist.Advanced knowledge of cutting tools, processes, hand tools and measuring equipmentExperience of other manual machines (manual HBM mill, drill press, surface grinder, keyseater, etc.)Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Ability to setup and run with little to no supervisionDemonstrated ability to read engineering drawings and specificationsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong work ethic and adherence to processes and policiesAdditional InformationMust be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa statusNo relocation assistance6:00AM – 2:30PM Monday through Friday (with overtime as required – overtime is up to 4:30PM), some weekends from 6:00AM – 12:00PM.Semi-climate-controlled machine shop.LocationHouston, TX - Moisilee
