Full Time Faculty, Mathematics

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is a public community college serving Northwest Arkansas and surrounding areas. The following job description outlines the responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for a full‑time faculty member. Essential Duties Teach courses with a 15‑hour instructional load per semester during the nine‑month employment period, including preparation, lectures, labs, and student evaluations. Maintain classroom instruction, student preparation, and evaluations in accordance with the faculty workload policy. Dedicate one hour of class preparation and related activities per teaching hour. Hold class‑related office hours and provide general student development services. Serve in committee roles, sponsoring clubs or advisory boards, tutoring, and other service activities (three “committee” hours per week). Develop course curriculum, handouts, and presentations; participate in program‑level learning assessment and curriculum development. Review and participate in textbook selection where appropriate; collaborate with faculty and administrators in setting program standards and policies. Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, internship, observation, field‑experience, or similar settings. Maintain grade records, ensure FERPA compliance, and submit grades by established deadlines. Attend departmental, divisional, and college‑wide meetings, and be available for scheduled responsibilities. Teach courses using alternative delivery methods as needed and support teaching at other facilities in Benton or Washington counties, including evenings or weekends. Tutor at facilities in both Benton and Washington counties at varied times. Engage in professional development activities such as faculty evaluation participation, attending conferences, maintaining licensure, and training on new teaching technologies. Participate in service activities, including standing and ad–hoc committees, hiring committees, faculty senate, and orientation of new faculty; liaison for Early College Experience faculty; attend commencement and other ceremonies relevant to the discipline. Promote and market the college and its programs through community and educational activities. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in mathematics—or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics that can be applied to a Master’s of Science in Mathematics. Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education academic and social programs. Familiarity with campus and community resources, and state, federal, and campus rules and regulations related to academic programs. Ability to coordinate campus academic activities and evaluate information to develop recommendations. Ability to compile information into reports. Physical Demands / Work Environment Frequent manipulation of items, keyboarding, sitting, standing, and walking. Constant hearing, repetitive motion, and talking are required. Close visual acuity is essential for data analysis, reading, and computer usage. The work environment is primarily a professional office setting with moderate noise, lighting, and controlled temperature; occasional outdoor or storage area visits may be required.
