Physics Professor for AI Model Training [Remote]

Provide senior-level physics expertise to adjudicate contested arguments, evaluate alternative approaches, and produce defensible written judgments that will inform the training and evaluation of next-generation AI systems. This remote, contractor role emphasizes deep domain knowledge, meta-level reasoning, and clear technical communication rather than prior AI experience.

• Adjudicate and render expert judgment on contested or competing physics arguments, solutions, or interpretations within your subfield.
• Compare alternative approaches to the same problem, specifying which approach is superior, the assumptions required, and the parameter regimes where each applies.
• Identify and articulate meta-level evaluation criteria for robustness and validity, including key assumptions and the breaking points of common approximations.
• Provide calibrated, authoritative assessments while explicitly acknowledging genuine uncertainty and open questions.
• Draft rigorous, defensible written evaluations suitable for review by senior physicists.
• Use technical tools such as LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter to verify or contrast technical claims as needed, and clearly note when a question is unresolved and which considerations are relevant.

• PhD in physics with demonstrated scholarly impact in your specified subfield.
• Current or former Associate Professor, Full Professor, Chair Professor, or Principal Investigator or Group Leader with independent research leadership experience.
• Active research in one or more of the following areas: High Energy Physics, Mathematical Physics, Biophysics, Statistical Physics, Condensed Matter, AMO or Quantum Optics, Gravitation, Cosmology, Astrophysics, Quantum Information, or Optical Properties of Materials.
• 3 to 5 recent representative publications in your target subfield, with arXiv identifiers or DOI references.
• Prior experience supervising PhD students or postdocs, or equivalent research leadership in industry.
• Proficiency with LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter, with any gaps in tool experience explicitly indicated in your application.
• Exceptional written communication skills, able to articulate nuanced, well-reasoned judgments suitable for expert peer review.
