Data Center Technician

Job Summary Randstad is responsible for the entire day-to-day management of state-of-the-art data center operations throughout the United States for a multinational banking and financial services holding company. It is the largest of its kind in the United States with total worldwide assets in excess of US$2 trillion. The world-class data center is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for a long-term project role. Position Details Shift(s): AM (12 AM-12 PM) / Rotating 3,2,2,3 Location: Wilmington, Delaware Job type: Solutions Salary: $25-$28 per hour Work hours: Rotating Shifts Education: No Degree Required Responsibilities Basic responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Rack and stack enterprise-class technology (network, storage and enterprise servers). Run, trace, dress and test copper and fiber cables from patch panel to device. Familiarity with patch panels. Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and connectivity issues. Commission and de-commission hardware. Perform component replacement (DIMMs, hard drives, power supplies). Adhere to change-control processes. Qualifications Previous experience working in a complex, high-availability data center environment providing layer-one hardware installation, ongoing maintenance, problem identification and incident resolution. A strong working knowledge of data center processes and design. Hands-on expertise of midrange systems in large-scale (100+ servers) environments – IBM, HP, Oracle and Dell server hardware. Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills; ability to document complex problem resolution summaries and repetitive-task interfaces through an online ticketing system. Understanding of switch/port configurations. Critical thinking and decision making related to outage risk assessment. Strong cable-management skills and experience managing fiber and copper in a data center environment. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, walk long distances, and safely use a step stool when needed. Desired Skills & Experience Certifications: A+, Server+ or Network+.
