Student Account Specialist

Xavier University is seeking a dedicated, student‑focused Student Account Specialist to join the Bursar team. The role provides front‑line service to students, families, faculty, and staff by managing student account questions, payments, refunds, departmental deposits, and related financial processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, families, faculty, and staff by phone, email, and in person, including responding to account questions and assisting with payment‑related needs.
• Process student account payments, departmental deposits, tuition credits, deposit refunds, returned payments, and related transactions.
• Reconcile daily transactions to the general ledger and collaborate with campus partners such as the Controller’s Office, Financial Aid, Student Involvement, and Admissions.
• Manage student refund processes, including processing, issuing, tracking returned refunds, and communicating with students and families.
• Train, schedule, supervise, and support student workers who provide front‑line service in the Bursar Office.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience required; 1–3 years of general accounting experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
• Strong customer service, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, interpret varied situations, and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with office technology and ability to learn new systems and processes.
