Emmons Lake Elementary Principal
Caledonia Community Schools is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as the next Emmons Lake Elementary Principal. We are looking for a visionary administrator who is passionate about fostering student achievement, building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who values high expectations, continuous improvement, and meaningful partnerships with students, staff, families, and the community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of district curriculum and instructional initiatives.
- Promote high-quality teaching through classroom observations, coaching, and meaningful feedback.
- Utilize student achievement and assessment data to improve instructional practices.
- Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) focused on continuous improvement.
- Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for academics and behavior.
- Foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive school culture.
- Build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Promote positive behavior supports and restorative practices.
- Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Support student attendance and family engagement initiatives.
- Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate certified and support staff.
- Conduct evaluations in accordance with the Michigan Revised School Code and district policies.
- Promote professional growth through coaching and professional development.
- Foster collaboration and shared leadership among staff.
- Oversee daily school operations and building management.
- Develop and manage the school budget responsibly.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, Michigan Department of Education requirements, and applicable state and federal laws.
- Coordinate school safety planning and emergency preparedness.
- Supervise transportation, food service, and facility operations at the building level.
- Develop strong partnerships with parents and community organizations.
- Communicate effectively through newsletters, meetings, social media, and other outreach methods.
- Represent the school positively within the district and community.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a related field.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Michigan School Administrator Certificate (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated instructional leadership experience.
Preferred
- Previous elementary administrative experience.
- Experience leading school improvement initiatives.
- Experience using student achievement data to improve instruction.
- Knowledge of Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP).
- Experience with MTSS, PBIS, and PLC's.
- Knowledge of state and federal education laws, including IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and Title IX.
